• Listens - and shares own short comings
• Understands or at least tries to understand their concerns
• Communicates
• Displays adequate knowledge and ability
• Seeks help when needed
• Organizes well
• Tries new ideas
• Lets them take responsibility

Youth dislike a leader who...

• Says one thing and does another
• Does not relate to them and is "preachy"
• Does not show concern for them
• Does not trust them
• Favors some over others
• Puts own interests ahead of the group
• Gets upset when things do not go right
• Won't change and forces ideas on them
