Spotted touch-me-not (Impatiens capensis)

Distinctive orange-yellow flowers, favored by hummingbirds. Annual native in wet areas, mature seedpods “explode” upon touch, firing seeds in all directions. (The genus name Impatiens is Latin for impatient.) Leaves are thin-textured, with rounded teeth at the margin. Blooms June-July. Also called jewelweed. Juice of plant may relieve the rash of poison ivy.
