Number 82 - February 2025
L.O.W. Annual Meeting
Time
It's that time of year again and our Annual Meeting of the Lake of the Woods Steam and Gas Engine Association has been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, located on Rocky Point RD (County RD 17), 6 miles or so North of Roosevelt.
If you have an E-mail address, even if you think I may already have it, please E-mail it to me, because some have changed and are no longer valid and I may have lost some due to computer problems. Include your phone number, as a lot of you have cell phones only, no land-line, so you are no longer listed in the phone book, so I’m missing a few and have no way to put you back on the list. So if you know of any members not getting the newsletter just let me know.
It is on a sad note to report the loss of at least two of our members in the last couple years. Leon Grove passed away on June 6, 2023 and Duane Comstock left us on October 16, 2024. They both had been active from the early days of our show and will be sadly missed by their families and so many of us who knew them so well.
As it is each year, and doesn't seem to change much, we always have a lot of business to discuss in preparation for this year's show; election of directors, discussion of work that needs to be done, ideas to improve our show and enlarge our attendance, along with good fellowship with old and/or new friends, and of course enjoy some good refreshments. Also bring along any of your friends who may be interested in exhibiting, playing with or just looking at any of the Old Tractors, Cars, Engines, Farm Equipment, Blacksmith and other Old Stuff that was used many decades ago by our ancestors on the farm, in the home and etc. Perhaps we can encourage them to become members of our small, but great, organization.
It’s too late to watch us demonstrate a couple of Maytag square tub washers being run by gas engines with the exhaust hose run out the window. It’s getting to be too much for us to load and unload all this heavy equipment at home and at the show ground and age is creeping up on us. If you are interested in any of the antique laundry items just check with us, as we downsize our part of the show.
Call Troy Comstock at 218-424-7455 or Steve LaDuke at 218-689-4463 or William Olson at 218-442-6381 for more information about our association and our show.
You're welcome to volunteer or help with one of the following: Your pay will the same as for the rest of us, the satisfaction of a job well done. You or a friend can become a Lifetime member for only $25.00 and get on the mailing list.
Our Gate Fee Admission is now $10.00 to be more in line with the other shows, with children 14 old and under Free. This should give us a little more cash for upkeep & to operate with. Primitive Camping fee is $10 for the season plus the gate fee.
