L.O.W. Annual Meeting Time Is Upon Us

Our Annual Meeting of the Lake of the Woods Steam and Gas Engine Association has been scheduled for 1:00 PM, Sunday, February 6, 2014 at the Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, located on Rocky Point RD (County RD 17), 6 miles North of Roosevelt.

As it is each year, we have much business to discuss in preparation for this years show; election of directors, discussion of work that needs to be done, ways to improve our show, along with good fellowship with old and/or new friends, and of course enjoy some good refreshments. There may also be some discussion about what additional types of fundraising we can come up with to help support our annual show. Bring your ideas.

Also bring along any of your friends who may be interested in exhibiting, playing with or just looking at any of the Old Tractors, Cars, Engines, Farm Equipment, and other Old Stuff that was used many years ago by our ancestors on the farm, home and etc. Perhaps we can encourage them to become members of our small, but great, organization.

Call Troy Comstock at 424-7455 or Steve LaDuke at 386-1302 or William Olson at 442-6381 for more information about our association and our show.

It is with a note of sadness that we offer our condolences to those experiencing the loss of family members within our Steam Family this past year. Rhonda McFarland lost her husband, Carter, suddenly on June 30, 2013. Randy Graves passed away on August 24 2013, Their family, many friends and acquaintances will surely miss them.

We were also sorry to hear about Mark Engenís horrendous auto accident last year. He has gone through some terrible suffering and multiple operations to put him back together, but the good news is that he is on his feet again, getting therapy to recover full use of his legs. They are now in Arizona, enjoying the warm climate. Iím sure they are anxious for summer to arrive so they can get back and join us for this yearís show. We pray for Markís rapid recovery.

If you have an E-mail address, even if you think I may already have it, please E-mail it to me, because some have changed and are no longer valid. That way I can update you on occasion about whatís going on. If you have an address change, let me know too, the Post office will only forward for about a year, then I may lose you.

It is with a note of sadness that we must report about the loss of one of our members within our Steam Family. Jerold Wahlbeck passed away on December 30, 2011. Jerry was active in playing & singing with the Highway 11 Ramblers on the Pioneer Home porch for several years. His presence will be surely be missed by many.

If you would like a copy of the membership list, please let me know and I'll get one for you.
